The £2,500 competition gets underway next month, with this talented early pace sort likely have a big say in the outcome.

Having finished third to Charlie Lister's Southern Mesut in last year's £10,000 RPGTV Henlow Derby, this son of Kinloch Brae boasts superb course form and rates a cut above his opposition here.

The short run to the bend over this 428m trip tends to suit the inside runners, and with the selection perfectly poised to strike in trap one, he should be on every punter's betting slip.

Wallis, who's kennel has been in imperious form over recent weeks, can also strike with his speedy bitch Aero Babooshka in one of the two bend events.

Primarily raced over further, she has adapted well to this drop back to 277m and is the one to be with in search of a hat-trick.

On a night where inside runners may have the best of it, a local hope in the shape of Ray Turney's Westmead Rena can score in the red jacket of trap one to land the maiden at 8.00pm at hopefully a decent enough price.

As the sole railer, Turney's well-bred daughter of Westmead Hawk can take full advantage of potential crowding caused by Blackrose Bob and Horoscope moving off on the run-up and nip up the inside unscathed.

She was a gutsy winner over six bends last month, and that stamina could eventually prove the difference in what may turn out to be a scrappy affair.

The supporting card kicks off with three welcomed graded competitions in the shape of A10, A9 and A8 Kennel Sweepstake Finals.

Owners of low graded runners barely get the opportunity to race for some silverware so these finals are fantastic for them.

Russell Simpson's Quivers Kin showed good speed on just her second start in Thursday's heat and is taken to go one better in the opener.

Mash Mad Winky was an ultra impressive winner of his qualifier on Thursday, strolling to a comfortable four lengths success clocking the quickest of the three A8 heats.

A reproduction of his 3.82sec split should see him clear his rivals at the turn and make every post and winning one.
